Bound-About
Dog Walking & Pet Care
About me

I know how big a decision it is to ask somebody to look after your pet. If you want someone who truly cares, look no further

Cathryn Wilkins
I have been living in Derby for around 10 years with my husband Paul. We have three children and an eight year old English Springer Spaniel/Weimaraner cross called Murphy. Before becoming a stay-at-home-Mum, I worked as a Home Economist. The  occasional days spent in London or the thought of going abroad on holiday used to fill me with dread. With no family nearby, we were always faced with the dilemna of Murphy's needs. Bound-About is here to reduce the worries owners have when faced with similar situations. It is a small friendly business that genuinely loves creatures, all great and small, and will do our best to meet you requirements. Above all, we look forward to getting to know your pets.
Whether you are going on holiday or working long hours, I am here to put your mind at rest and will treat your pets as if they are my own.
Practical Experience
Diploma in Dog Walking & Pet Sitting
From a young age, I have been fascinated by the relationship between humans and animals and feel incredibly honoured to have such a close bond with my dog called Murhpy. When we were growing up my brothers kept goldfish and bred butterflies and moths. I had a playful rabbit and our family dog was a Bernese Mountain Dog called Hania. My mother grew up on a farm, and holidays were often spent at my Nain and Taids, surrounded by cows and playing with their Border Collie Juno and various cats that would make the farm their home. I am experienced in handling a variety of animals and understand that they all have their own behaviours and needs.
There's more to starting a dog walking and pet care business than meets the eye and I wanted to make sure that I had an excellent foundation to build Bound-About on. The syllabus included Health & Hygiene, Laws & Regulations, Insurances required, CRB checks, Property security, Animal security, Veterinary concerns, Pre-service visit considerations, Terms & Conditions, Dog & Cat body language, aggression, dog fights and attacks, Handling & Transporting animals, First Aid, Dog & Cat groups & breeds, behaviour & training, grooming & care, common diseases, and the general care and common diseases of Birds, Fish, Reptiles, Hamsters, Gerbils, Rats & Mice, Rabbits & Guinea Pigs.
Murphy
Animal Welfare & Charities
Murphy is an incredibly friendly dog who likes to say hello to everyone. He attended puppy training classes when younger, is a very sociable dog and enjoys  taking part in pack walks. We attended dog agility classes at Scarsdale Veterinary Practice, where the greatest challenge was keeping Murphy's excitability under control! Part of the pleasure of owning a dog is discovering new walks and exploring the great outdoors. Allestree park is our local stomping ground, but we also like to visit Eyes Meadow in Duffield, Darley Park, Elvaston Castle and head up to the Peaks whenever possible. Murphy has required taking a long course of medication in the past, as did our family dog, so I am confident in giving tablets or injections.
I like to support the work of the RSPCA andThe Dogs Trust and am keen to educate  my children about animals and their well being. I follow the efforts made by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and am trying to raise the awareness of the horrific dog and cat meat trade in the Far East through sharing the work ofThe Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand and Together for Animals in China (TACN). As a family we like to attend various charity events throughout the year with Murphy.
